* Included as standard accessory

  • 3 / 4 years

HOW TO MAKE IT

1.

  • Fold the fabric, right sides together, with selvages aligned.
  • Place the pattern according to the instructions and cut, remembering to add 1 cm (3/8) in seam allowance and 3 cm (1 ¼ in) in for the bottom and sleeve hem.

2.

To make your t-shirt, install the overlock foot C and select stitch 18 (overlock) on your elna eXplore 340S.

  • Place the two shoulder seams right sides together and sew, placing your fabric against the outer edge of your presser foot.
  • Pin sleeves to front/back assembly following the front and shoulder markings.

3.

  • Always sew with the sleeve facing up.
  • Press seam allowances to one side.
  • Position front and back with right sides together.

4.

  • Pin the side seams from the bottom of the t-shirt to the edge of the sleeve.
  • To avoid bulk under the arm, push your armhole seams in the opposite direction. One downward and the other upward.
  • Sew and press.

5.

  • Close the neckline strip with a straight seam.
  • Fold it in half on the right side and iron it.
  • Mark the middle front and middle back of the neckline.
  • Place your neckline strip over the markers and pin.
  • Since the neckline strip is slightly smaller than the neckline, stretch your fabric as you sew to tighten it.

FINISHING WITH THE TWIN NEEDLE

  • Install the second spool holder and twin needle on your elna eXplore 340S.
  • Set your machine as follows:

– Thread tension: 6-7
– Stitch length 2.5-3
– Satin foot F or optional satin stitch open-toe foot F2 (Ref. 200-137-025) for greater visibility.

1.

  • Iron your neckline, pushing the seam away from the neckline.
  • Topstitch through the seam allowances with the twin needle.
  • For a clean finish, cut a strip of jersey fabric 3 cm (1 ¼) in wide to fit the back neckline.
  • Fold the long edges in towards the wrong side following the neckline curve and hold this strip with a hand stitch along the entire length of the back neckline seam.

2.

  • Turn up 3 cm (1 ¼) in for each of the sleeve hems and bottom of the t-shirt.
  • Press in place
  • Using the double needle, sew the hems 2 cm (3/4) in from the edge. Trim the excess fabric along the stitching line.

Congratulations, it’s ready!
